Havana, November 2 (RHC)-- Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero spoke Monday about the strength and prospects of tourism on the island and the beginning of operations with German counterparts.

On a tweet, the Cuban head of government said he had held a meeting with the Condor airline president, Ralf Teckentrup, and other top German tourism officials.

'I met with the President of Condor Airline and the Presidents of the main German Tour Operators, who came with 150 travel agents to check the vitality of our tourism and start operations,' wrote Marrero.

Last Saturday, as part of Cuba's tourist opening and in the new normality, the first Condor flight with Tour Operators and Travel Agents arrived at the Juan Gualberto Gomez Airport in Varadero (central province of Matanzas) to complete a familiarization program.

Among the objectives of this FAM trip is to learn how Cuban tourism authorities have prepared to receive foreign visitors and the application of health and safety protocols that guarantee a safe and pleasant stay, at a time when the world is experiencing a pandemic that has hit the sector.

With this trip, the German company Condor resumed its itinerary from Frankfurt to the Varadero air terminal, which will be covered by a Boeing 767-300 aircraft with 300 seats.

Cóndor also plans to connect from Düsseldorf to this facility, considered the second most important airport in the country, located between the capital of Matanzas province and the famous resort of Varadero.

The Juan Gualberto Gómez Airport, with 31 years of service, receives more than 30 percent of the visitors to the island, and most of the tourists enjoy their vacations on this beach, one of the best in the world.
