St. Petersburg, May 24 (RHC) -- The governor of the Russian city of St. Petersburg, Gueorgui Poltavchenko, has stressed his interest in cooperation projects with Cuba in many spheres.
Poltavchnko made the remarks during a meeting with the Cuban ambassador to Russia, Emilio Losada, on occasion of the St. Petersburg Economic Forum.
According to the Russian official, bilateral collaboration in the tourism sector looks promising and suggested the re-opening in St Petersburg of a permanent representation from Cuba and the establishment of a working group to explore and identify opportunities for bilateral projects.
In turn, Losada extended an invitation to Poltavchnko to visit Cuba, and ratified the Caribbean island´s willingness to strengthen the traditionally warm relations with the city and Russia.
A round-table discussion attended by delegations from Cuba, Ecuador and Nicaragua was held yesterday as part of the 18th edition of the Saint Petersburg Economic Forum, on the prospects for complementary economic projects between Russia, Latin America, and the Caribbean.
