London, April 29 (RHC)-- "Cuba could be the next big cruise vacation destination," says an article published in The Telegraph, which warns that this possibility is hampered by U.S. government sanctions, due to the blockade with which it has harassed the island for almost 60 years.

The British newspaper recalls that, five years ago, the policy of then-President Barack Obama favored an influx of travel, led by industry giants such as Royal Caribbean International, Norwegian Cruise Line, Carnival Cruise Line, and others, which raised the number of tourists arrivals on cruise ships, in 2018, up to 800,000.

The Telegraph recalled that the Trump Administration reinforced the blockade with more than 240 measures, even in times of the COVID-19 pandemic, a situation that remains unchanged after the assumption of a new administration, preventing those companies from docking in Cuba.

But the British newspaper affirms that any indication of the possibility of returning to their ports would be welcomed with open arms by the cruise lines, whose leading executives, such as the presidents of Norwegian Cruise Line, Virgin Voyages, and Carnival Corporation, have expressed their enthusiasm for the reestablishment of trips to the island.
