Havana, June 29 (RHC)-- Cuba approved the application of new measures to confront the high incidence of Covid-19. These are the implementation of more rigorous international sanitary controls and the strengthening of epidemiological surveillance.

According to local television, the strategy designed by the governmental group for confronting the pandemic, headed by Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel and Prime Minister Manuel Marrero, also includes the continuation of the sanitary intervention with vaccination candidates.

Likewise, the plan foresees guaranteeing medical coverage and reducing mobility while prioritizing the fundamental tasks of productive activity and services.

The President pointed out that all possible capacities must be identified and used in each province to bring in as many people as possible to contribute to cut the chains of contagion in the communities.

Regarding the reduction of mobility, Marrero said that, in addition to regulating departures in all the territories, it is essential to hold only the indispensable meetings and in strict compliance with the hygienic-epidemiological provisions.

The temporary group also decided to provide support to the provinces with a more complex situation by sending teams headed by deputy prime ministers, members of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, and directors of different ministries involved.

According to the head of Public Health of the Caribbean nation, José Angel Portal, the country is currently in a phase of community transmission, as evidenced by the high contagion levels and the increase in the incidence rate in the last 15 days.

To this is added the circulation of other strains, which have a much greater propagation capacity.

On Tuesday, Cuba reported 3,80 new positive cases of SARS-CoV-2, the highest number for a single day since the beginning of the pandemic.

However, the most worrying aspect is that Covid-19 is present throughout the country, and 10 provinces have more than a hundred sick people every day.
