The first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel, speaking at the World Leaders Summit, held virtually on the occasion of the Centennial of the Communist Party of China.

Havana, July 6 (RHC)-- The first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel, ratified Tuesday his country's support for the One-China principle and condemned interference in the internal affairs of that nation.

Speaking at the World Leaders Summit, held virtually on the occasion of the Centennial of the Communist Party of China (CPC), the Cuban President congratulated the Chinese people, their leader Xi Jinping and the more than 95 million militants of the political organization.

The Caribbean head of state considered that the founding of the CCP and the proclamation of the New China made it possible for the revolutionary, progressive and leftist forces of the world to count on a nation that makes important theoretical and practical contributions to Marxism-Leninism and socialism.

After more than four decades of the Reform and Opening, he stressed that China is recognized worldwide for its strong economic base and noted that Cubans see in it a united and dynamic people and leaders with high qualifications.

In particular, he highlighted the leadership of the political organization, which has wisely faced colossal adversities and has put the citizenry at the center of its concerns and its work, as evidenced by the effective battle against Covid-19 and the results in the eradication of extreme poverty.

Díaz-Canel pointed out that, despite these achievements, the U.S. government tries to present China as a threat to its security while seeking to tarnish the image of the CCP.

In this scenario, he recalled that the Asian nation is an essential element of balance, stability, and safeguard of world peace, which does not impose its model and does not adopt unilateral coercive measures against other States while defending multilateralism and the principles of International Law.

The Cuban President also highlighted the close relationship between his country and the Chinese people, Party and government, forged by the historic leaders of both nations and continued by the current generations.

He affirmed that, based on equality, mutual respect, friendship, and cooperation, they are united by the determination to build socialism, with a common vision of sustainable development and the greatest concern for the population's welfare.

Díaz-Canel also said that China and its Communist Party demonstrate that it is possible to propose, with sovereignty, independence, and deep convictions, to achieve sustainable development. He highlighted Xi Jinping's contributions at the head of the Central Committee of the CCP.
