London, July 8 (RHC)-- Irish people in solidarity with Cuba culminated this Wednesday in front of the provisional seat of Parliament in Dublin, a 60-kilometer walk in support of the Cuban people and against the U.S. blockade against the Caribbean island.

The ambassador of the Caribbean country in Ireland, Hugo René Ramos, told Prensa Latina that the activists walked one kilometer for each year that the unilateral measure imposed by Washington has been in force.

Upon their arrival at the International Convention Center, the walkers were received by several deputies of the Parliamentary Group of Friendship with Cuba, among them its president, Thomas Pringle, to whom they asked to take advantage of Ireland's temporary presence at the UN Security Council to promote the normalization of relations between Washington and Havana.

They also called for an international investigation to determine the amount of economic compensation the United States should pay Cuba for the damages caused by the blockade.

The members of the Cuba Support Group also asked the parliamentarians to reinforce European regulations to defend the rights of individuals and companies against the extraterritorial nature of U.S. commercial, financial and economic sanctions.
