Cuba reports 68 deaths and 8 607 new COVID-19 infections

Havana, July 29 (RHC)—Cuban health authorities announced 68 deaths and 8 607 new COVID-19 infections over the last 24 hours.

The island’s chief epidemiology, Dr. Francisco Duran, said that there were 44 059 confirmed cases.

The Caribbean island now accumulates  366 985 cases and  2628  deaths since the pandemic began in March last year.

The territories with the most cases were  Havana with 1714,  Matanzas with 1284, Santiago de Cuba with 705, and Ciego de Avila with 676.

The increase of Covid-19 cases in Havana in the last fifteen days, with an alarming increase of positives in pediatric ages, focused the debate of the ordinary meeting of the Temporary Working Group in the capital.

The provincial deputy director of Health and director of the Provincial Center of Hygiene, Epidemiology, and Microbiology, Yadira Olivera, highlighted the worrying rise in mortality in several municipalities

The capital top authorities insisted on the critical and self-critical review to be made by the institutions involved in the confrontation of the disease,, without excluding the responsibility of the population and the family
