Havana, August 14 (RHC)-- Cuban Vice President Salvador Valdés Mesa highlighted on Saturday the historical ties that unite the governments and peoples of Cuba and Russia upon receiving the fourth flight from Moscow with humanitarian aid.

This friendly and solidary aid will be an important contribution to face the pandemic, the shortages that our people are suffering today, and to be able to move forward,' Valdés Mesa stressed.

The 40.4-ton humanitarian cargo that arrived in Havana aboard an AN-124 includes 2.2 tons of wheat flour and 38.2 tons of medicines and medical equipment, including oxygen concentrators, pulmonary ventilators, and syringes.

This is the fourth flight with  Ruslam planes, with humanitarian aid donated by the authorities of Russia and the Ministry of Civil Defense, Emergencies, and Disaster Mitigation of that country.

On the Russian side, the Russian Chargé d'Affaires in Cuba, Anna Kosenkova, reaffirmed Moscow's willingness to help the Caribbean island under challenging times.

'Today, we continue to work together to develop and strengthen our relations as strategic partners in all spheres,' the Russian diplomat said.

In the four flights from Russia with humanitarian aid destined for Cuba, 170.7 tons of food, medical supplies, equipment, and medicines have arrived on the island, which will be used to fight the Covid-19 pandemic.
