Havana, September 5 (RHC)-- Cuba received on Sunday, a flight from the Argentinian Air Force with solidarity aid consisting of 3.5 tons of medical supplies to confront the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Minister of Science, Technology, and Environment (CITMA) of the Caribbean country, Elba Rosa Pérez, and the ambassador of the South American nation in Havana, Luis Ilarregui, went to the José Martí International Airport to receive the shipment.

The shipment of masks, syringes, needles, protective masks, disposable gowns, and gloves, among other sanitary materials, was organized by the national and Buenos Aires governments.

The Argentinian Movement of Solidarity with Cuba, the Union of Cuban Residents, and the Argentinian Association of Graduates on the island also contributed.

This shipment strengthens the relations between the two countries, characterized by a two-way love, said Ambassador Ilarregui, who thanked all the institutions that made possible the arrival of the aid.

He also highlighted the moment in which it is produced, when the pandemic deepens the problems caused to the Caribbean country by the economic blockade of the United States, against which the South American nation has historically spoken out.

Argentina has put its heart into Cuba, said the Minister of Citma, who expressed her deep gratitude to that Government and people.

We highly appreciate these medical supplies that will contribute to the fight against Covid-19. She added and specified that they would be immediately available to the health care centers.
