Damascus, July 3 (RHC) -- Cuban and Syrian officials are discussing ways to activate bilateral cooperation actions in the fields of biotechnology and pharmaceuticals.

During a meeting in Damascus with Cuban ambassador Fernando Perez, Syria’s Health Minister, Saad al-Nayef, addressed the need to take advantage of the high scientific level of Cuban bio-pharmaceutical research and production centers to transfer advanced technology to Syria.

Al-Nayef said that his country would benefit from the import of Cuban pharmaceuticals, while the Syrian health ministry would provide Cuba list of products needed in the country, such as vaccines and other last generation medications including cancer products.

The Cuban ambassador addressed the chance to also supply Syria with veterinary medicines, which would only be possible after finding appropriate ways to launch the bilateral collaboration initiative.
