Havana, November 30 (RHC)-- The Accessible America 2021 forum continues its work in Cuba with the purpose of promoting digital inclusion and showing advances in the use of information and communication technologies (ICT).

The event is the ideal framework in which the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) presents experiences in the sector at a global level among administrations and operating companies.

During the opening ceremony, the Cuban head of the Ministry of Communications, Mayra Arevich, informed that in recent years this Caribbean nation had experienced sustained growth in Internet connectivity and the use of ICTs.

Averich assured that 64 percent of Cubans have access to the so-called network of networks, some 6.6 million users.

Roxana Widmer, the ITU digital inclusion coordinator, spoke about the inequalities affecting people with less purchasing power or with motor, intellectual or audiovisual disabilities,

She said that by the end of 2020, four billion 660 million people were connected, but 40 percent of humanity still did not have access to the digital world.
