Havana, December 21 (RHC)-- The Cuban Parliament approved the proposed Law on Territorial and Urban Planning and Land Management, the first regulation on the subject to reach this rank in the country's history.

In the presentation of the legal body before the legislature, Samuel Rodiles, president of the National Institute of Territorial and Urban Planning, highlighted the process of analysis and searched for consensus to which the text was submitted.

In this sense, he highlighted the consultations to experts and several working sessions with the deputies, exchanges in which more than 200 proposals were made, which resulted in a substantial modification of the document.

The regulation adequately regulates the requirements of planning, management, control, and territorial and urban discipline, in addition to updating the legal framework so that it articulates and coordinates the different competencies that affect the territory.

To this end, it establishes the instruments, scope, scope, levels of approval, and management; it also defines the responsibilities of the local bodies of the People's Power and the different actors involved in these processes, and the urban land regime, among other matters.

The law is in line with constitutional rights such as the enjoyment of personal property related to land, a healthy and balanced environment, a safe and healthy habitat, and adequate housing.
