Havana, February 15 (RHC)-- Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel called on the country's academics to encourage the love for exact and natural sciences with attractive methods from an early age.

According to a news report, the President urged them to work on motivations and assured that teachers have the leading role in achieving this goal. He also advocated the creation of television programs that creatively explain the application of basic sciences to life.

In this regard, he referred to the possibility of an action program to support UNESCO's effort, which has declared 2022 as the International Year of Basic Sciences for Development.

The Cuban academics proposed making books, brochures, and educational materials with experiments, exercises, and ideas on how basic sciences and others relate to daily life.

Professor Luis Alberto Montero referred to the main problems of basic sciences in the country and the national program to reverse the deficit of these professionals.

"We have to find a way to transmit the inclusive nature of the sciences, to understand them from any dimension," he said.

For Cuba, with a great tradition of scientific development, it is crucial to strengthen the training of professionals in the exact and natural sciences, the experts concluded.
