Havana, May 27 (RHC)-- The 21st Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-People's Trade Agreement (ALBA-TCP) is meeting this Friday at the Palace of the Revolution in Havana.

Presidents, prime ministers, and high-ranking leaders of the group "will share common development strategies and analyze the regional political situation," announced the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MINREX).

It will be another moment of progress for the integration bloc, founded in 2004 at the initiative of Fidel Castro and Hugo Chávez, then presidents of Cuba and Venezuela, as a response to the neoliberal project that Washington intended to impose on the continent.

ALBA-TCP is also made up of Nicaragua, Bolivia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Grenada, Dominica, Antigua and Barbuda, St. Kitts and Nevis, and St. Lucia.

The fight against social exclusion through mechanisms of solidarity, collaboration, and complementarity is among its founding purposes.

The Secretary-General, Sacha Llorenti, recently commented that ALBA-TCP is revitalized today in what he defined as the new battles for a better world and against U.S. hegemonism.

He considered it a unique grouping due to its principles of unity and integration.

He reiterated that ALBA-TCP does not subordinate itself to the patterns of an unjust international order and seeks a fair, equitable, and balanced one. Therefore, he insisted, it is a point of reference to overcoming so many injustices.
