Havana, July 5 (RHC)-- The president of the National Assembly of People's Power and the Council of State, Esteban Lazo Hernández, headed on Monday the analysis of the results of the highest audit of the Ministry of Energy and Mines, prior to its discussion in the Ninth Ordinary Session of the Cuban Parliament, in its Ninth Legislature.

The meeting, held at the National Capitol, complied with the provisions of paragraph eight of Agreement no. IX-118, approved by the Cuban legislature regarding this exercise.

At the beginning of the exchange, Lazo Hernández acknowledged the sacrifice, dedication, altruism and human solidarity of the workers in this sector, and their willingness to overcome difficulties.

He emphasized that this exercise of the highest supervision of the Ministry of Energy and Mines (Minem) is being carried out in a complex national and international scenario, characterized by the intensification of the blockade, the effects of the world crisis caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, the country's electro-energy situation, among other challenges.

Our will is to turn this difficult panorama into a better moment; to turn setbacks into victory, with creative resistance, unity and collective contribution; to move forward in the face of the current context, he ratified.

In this endeavor, MINEM's highest auditors will make important contributions to strengthen the work, by identifying the sector's potentialities and challenges.

The head of the sector, Liván Arronte Cruz, reiterated the commitment of all the workers for the highest audit to be a driving force for the fulfillment of the tasks, the progress in the solution of the problems and the conquest of better results with the perspective of moving forward, advancing and developing ourselves; aware of what the sector represents for the welfare of the population and the development of the nation.

Also participating in the activity were deputies Magda Ileana Pérez Matos, Teresa González Barea, Martha Mesa Valenciano and Marta Hernández Romero, vice-presidents of the Industry, Construction and Energy and Economic Affairs Commissions, president of the Education, Culture, Science and Technology and Environment Commission of the National Assembly, and coordinator of the parliamentary commissions, respectively; as well as other executives of the Ministry of Energy and Mines.

With the adoption of Agreement no. IX-118, the Cuban Parliament approved the exercise of the highest audit to the Minem, a process developed between January 3 and June 30, 2022; led by the Commission of Industry, Construction and Energy; and als with the participation of the Commissions of Economic Affairs and Education, Culture, Science, Technology and Environment.
