Cuba and UNDP analyze progress in the implementation of Agenda 2030

Havana, July 6 (RHC)-- Cuban officials and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) reviewed Tuesday in Havana the implementation of the 2030 Agenda on the island and that agency´s involvement in the execution of national plans.

The Caribbean nation's deputy foreign minister, Anayansi Rodriguez met with the United Nations Development Program´s regional director for Latin America and the Caribbean, Luis Felipe Lopez-Calva, who is on an official visit to Cuba until next Thursday.

The deputy foreign minister described the exchange with the UN undersecretary general as fruitful.

The diplomat informed on her Twitter account that during the meeting, she also thanked the United Nations Development Program for its stance against the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States, considered the main obstacle to Cuba's development.

López-Calva also noted the progress made in cooperation projects, in a dialogue with the Cuban Minister of Science, Technology and Environment, Elba Rosa Pérez.

The visitor said he was delighted with the meeting, in which he ratified the Program's support to Cuba in areas such as environmental sustainability, climate change mitigation and the preservation of ecosystems.

During his stay in Havana, the undersecretary general will exchange with other Cuban authorities on the collaboration for the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals towards the year 2030.
