Havana, July 26 (PL-RHC), -- In Havana, the 25th United States-Cuba Pastors for Peace Caravan has honoured the late US religious leader Lucius Walker in the context of the visit of this group in solidarity with the Cuban people.

The inter-religious group laid a wreath at the Cuban anti-imperialist tribune Friday in honor of Walker, who was a great friend of Cuba and an emblematic figure of Pastors for Peace.

On Saturday, the 40 members of the caravan will attend, along with the Cuban people, the ceremony for the Day of National Rebellion that will be held this year in the western province of Artemisa.

Among other activities programmed for their stay here that continues until Aug 3, the caravan members will also meet the families of the Cuban anti-terrorists who have been unjustly imprisoned in US since 1998.

The caravan arrived at Jose Marti airport on Thursday evening, where they were received by the president of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples, Kenia Serrano, the chief of the department of attention of religious affairs of the Central Committee of the Cuban Communist Party, Caridad Diego, and other religious authorities.

During the welcoming ceremony, Serrano emphasized the solidarity effort of Pastors for Peace who toured 65 North American cities before arriving in Cuba, in defiance of the restrictions resulting from the US blockade against the Island.

In addition, the Co-director of Pastors for Peace, Gail Walker, expressed her pleasure for being here to share the several activities with the Cuban people, keeping with the legacy of friendship of her father, Lucius Walker.
