Oslo, August 25 (RHC)-- The governments of Cuba and Norway discussed Thursday the prospects for possible energy cooperation between the island and the Norwegian Energy Partners -Norwep- organization, diplomatic sources informed in Oslo.

Cuba's ambassador to this country, Maité Rivero, visited the headquarters of Norwep, which brings together more than 300 Norwegian companies in the energy sector.

Rivero discussed the role that Norwep could play, taking into account the existing possibilities for the participation of Norwegian companies in investment projects in the energy sector in Cuba.

The diplomat affirmed that this would include projects that seek to develop the use of renewable sources, which is a priority for the island.

Norwep aims to promote the national energy industry and its capabilities in international markets, both in oil and gas and renewable energy sources.

Gunn Vik, Director for Hydro and Solar, explained Norwep, including details on its origin, structure, mission, and operation.

"Norwegian Energy Partners offers solutions to global energy needs, and we seek to make Norwegian competence, experience, and technology available," he said.

With an extensive international network and advisors in key markets, we identify new business opportunities for the Norwegian energy industry worldwide, said the executive at the meeting.
