Havana, August 2 (RHC)-- The campaign "Solidarity is stronger than the blockade" that the "José Martí" Association of Friendship with Cuba of Türkiye (Turkey) started last November concluded on Thursday with the shipment to Cuba of medical supplies that were purchased with donations.
In this regard, the president of the Association's national board, Nahide Özkan, expressed that the campaign aimed to collect medical supplies to send to Cuba in support of the health system, which was significantly affected by the U.S. blockade in the context of the pandemic.
"That's why we started our campaign and stocked up on medical supplies such as masks, medical gloves, and catheters," she said.
The activist noted that while she considers the supplies sent a humble contribution, "our campaign has significance beyond the number of supplies."
"The significance of our campaign is to salute and support the resistance that the people of Cuba have shown in the face of the blockade, the determination to defend socialism, and the virtue they have shown when they gave a hand of solidarity to other countries even under pandemic conditions," she assured.
Thousands of people, several municipalities, mass democratic organizations, artists, and intellectuals have supported the campaign.
"We thank everyone," said Nahide Özkan and especially thanked the students and workers who donated money to buy these materials.
