Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez

Havana, Oct 28 (RHC) Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez thanked on Friday the Mexican Chamber of Deputies for its statement rejecting the U.S. economic, commercial and financial blockade against the island.

From his Twitter profile, the foreign minister also alluded to the call of the representatives of the federal legislative branch in the sister country to the U.S. Congress to put an end to that unilateral policy that harms the people of the Caribbean nation.

Rodriguez accompanied his publication with a fragment of the speech made by Santiago Creel, president of the Chamber of Deputies, in which he describes the blockade as unsustainable for several fundamental reasons, among them, the hindrance to health, work, and human development.

During the reading of a statement approved by the Political Coordination Board and promoted by the leader of the Mexico-Cuba Friendship Group, Rubén Moreira, Deputy Creel considered that the measure represents an attack on the current universal system of human rights.

Previously, Havana's ambassador to the United States, Marcos Rodriguez, acknowledged the document issued by the legislators and their request for the immediate cessation of this set of regulations and laws, denounced since 1992 at the United Nations.

The most recent report presented by the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs reveals that the blockade caused losses of over 3.8 billion dollars between August 2021 and February 2022. (Source: PL)
