Cuba solidarity groups meet in Italy
Rome, Nov 1 (RHC) The first vice president of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP), Noemi Rabaza, held a meeting Monday night at the Cuban embassy in Italy with representatives of groups that today make up the solidarity movement with Cuba.
Rabaza said that her visit to this country, accompanied by ICAP's director for Europe, Rigoberto Zarza, is aimed at exchanging with the organizations that make up that movement and participating in the XIII Congress of the National Association of Italy-Cuba Friendship (Anaic), which will take place from November 4 to 6 in the city of Brescia, in the northern region of Lombardy.
At the meeting, the Cuban official referred to the difficult situation the Caribbean nation is going through as a result of the blockade imposed by the United States, as well as the effects caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.
"We have many challenges, and the most encouraging thing is that we have the vast majority of Cubans betting on the Revolution, with very committed leaders at the forefront of it," said the official.
She spoke about the recent referendum in which the Family Code was approved, "an advanced law that guarantees greater social justice, greater plurality, greater inclusion, whose vote was an example of true participatory democracy".
He expressed, on behalf of the Cuban people, his gratitude to the groups of friends with Cuba in Italy for the solidarity help provided since the triumph of the Revolution, in the most difficult moments, which is maintained and strengthened at present.
The Cuban Ambassador to Italy, Mirta Granda, also acknowledged those present for their unconditional support to her country and highlighted the actions carried out to demand the end of the U.S. economic, commercial and financial blockade.
She also referred to the donations sent to the Cuban people for the fight against Covid-19 and the recent expressions of support after the explosion at the Saratoga hotel, the fire at the supertanker base in Matanzas, and after the passage of hurricane Ian.
For his part, the president of Anaic, Marco Papacci, said that the next congress of that association will begin on November 4, one day after the vote in the United Nations on the Cuban resolution against the U.S. blockade. (Source: PL)
