Rome, Nov 6 (RHC) Delegates to the 13th Congress of the National Association of Italy-Cuba Friendship -ANAIC-, which is in session in the northern city of Brescia, reaffirmed their support for Cuba and its Revolution, said Catia Funari, representative of the Rome circle of the solidarity organization, on Saturday.

The spokeswoman said that the day began with a tribute by the participants to the victims of a terrorist attack that took place in that Italian city in 1974.

The ceremony, held in the Plaza de la Logia, was attended by Cuban representatives, including the Cuban ambassador, Mirta Granda, the first vice-president of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP), Noemi Rabaza, and the director for Europe of that organization, Rigoberto Zarza.

Granda, on behalf of the Cuban delegation, placed a wreath at the monument erected in memory of the eight people who lost their lives on May 28, 48 years ago, after the detonation of a bomb placed there by militants of the neo-fascist group Ordine Nuovo.

The second day of sessions continued with debates of the congress commissions and delegates from various circles, such as those of Palermo, Genoa, Rome, Pescara, and Milan, among others, as well as by the president of Anaic, Marco Papacci.

Among the topics addressed by them, those referring to the economic, commercial, and financial blockade of the United States against Cuba, its effect and illegal nature, as well as the actions developed by the organization against it and the purpose of strengthening this campaign were highlighted.

Papacci highlighted the fight against the manipulation of information and false news that distort the situation in the Caribbean nation and pointed out some positive results of Anaic, noting that 190 nations follow the publications on the official site of that organization.

During the event, Rabaza thanked Anaic not only on behalf of ICAP, but also the Cuban people, for its solidarity support, and acknowledged that in recent years, amid a complex scenario, the association managed to grow in several circles and its membership.

He stressed that Cuba's victory last November 3, when 185 countries voted in the UN in favor of the resolution against the blockade, "is also your victory".

Among the messages of support to Cuba, Funari highlighted that the president of MediCuba Europe, Franco Cavalli; the secretary general of the National Association of Partisans, Fabrizio de Santis; Paolo Ferrero, vice president of European Left, as well as of young militants of the Rete dei Comunisti and Cambiare Rotta groups.
