Havana, Nov 9 (RHC) Havana will host until Friday, November 11, the II Internet Governance Forum, organized by the Cuban Association of the United Nations (ACNU) and the Union of Cuban Computer Scientists (UIC).

Under the videoconference modality, a representation of the provincial councils of the UIC is participating. This meeting allows for dialogue and socialization of knowledge on the management of social networks, laboratories for digital transformation and citizen participation, as well as the digital agenda in Cuba.

The organizers of this II Forum have defined that, at a time when the island is betting on digital transformation, the meeting will allow outlining strategies and implementing actions to advance in this endeavor and make visible the challenges of the new technological scenarios. It also aims to strengthen the use of the Internet among citizens and contribute to raising the culture of the population for its responsible use.

The conference entitled "The inescapable reality of the virtual", given by Rosa Miriam Elizalde, vice-president of the Union of Journalists of Cuba, and the panel "Information, Communication, Knowledge and Ethics on the Internet", by Ana Teresa Badía, member of the UPEC presidency, and Ania Hernández, vice-president of the Cuban Society of Scientific and Technical Information, marked the first actions of the Second Internet Governance Forum.

At this meeting, it was reported that the UIC continues to be immersed in its strengthening and developing tasks related to the process of digital transformation of society, technological literacy, and professional development of its members to contribute to the strategy of economic and social development of the country.
