Fernando Gonzalez visiting Laos
Vientiane, Nov 16 (RHC) The Hero of the Republic of Cuba Fernando Gonzalez arrived last night in this capital, where he will remain until the 18th to fulfill an intense program of meetings.
The visit of the also president of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP) is a special moment to strengthen historical and friendly ties with Laos, said the Cuban ambassador here, Enna Viant.
The vice president of the National Assembly and head of the Lao Council for Peace and Friendship, Sommad Pholsena, said he was honored with the visit of the Cuban hero, one of the members of the group of anti-terrorists known as The Five.
According to the program, Gonzalez will hold meetings today with the head of the Laos-Cuba Friendship Association and vice-president of the Parliament, Chaleun Viapaoheu, and with the first secretary of the Executive Committee of the Revolutionary People's Youth Union, Monexay Laomoaxong.
After the meeting, the ICAP chairman will give a lecture to leaders of the Ujprl in ministries, mass organizations, and structures of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party (LPRP).
In the continuation of his visit, this Thursday Gonzalez Llort and the delegation accompanying him will be received by the head of the Foreign Relations Committee of the PPRL, Thongsavanah Phomvihane, and later by the vice president of the Lao Front for National Development, Chanpheng Southivong.
On the same day, he will visit the Laos-Cuba Friendship School, where he will lay a wreath for Cuban National Hero José Martí and meet with teachers of that institution, and then meet with Laotian graduates on the island and members of the Friendship Association.
On his last day in Laos, on the 18th, Gonzalez will travel to the district of Vangvieng, one of the main tourist destinations of this Southeast Asian nation, and will visit the Viengsay hospital, where Cuban doctors collaborated.
The ICAP president will travel that same night to Vietnam, where he will make a working visit and participate in the General Assembly of the World Peace Council. (Source: PL)
