Moscow, Nov 22 (RHC) Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel will hold a meeting with his counterpart Vladimir Putin today as the culmination of his official visit to the Russian Federation.

The two leaders will hold talks to review the current state and prospects for the development of the Russian-Cuban strategic partnership in the political, trade and economic, cultural and humanitarian fields, and will exchange views on key issues on the international agenda.

Before the meeting, Putin and Diaz-Canel will inaugurate a monument to the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, in the square that bears his name, located in Moscow's Sokol neighborhood.

The presidents of Russia and Cuba spoke by telephone twice this year, in January and October, and discussed the development of bilateral relations and current international issues. In October, Díaz-Canel congratulated Putin on his 70th birthday.

Likewise, and as part of his work agenda on the fourth day of his official visit to Russia, the Cuban leader addressed the members of the State Duma (Lower House of Parliament).

After his speech, the Cuban leader will hold meetings with members of the Federation Council, known as the Senate or Upper House, and with the Patriarch of Moscow and All of Russia, Kirill, at the St. Daniel Monastery.

Díaz-Canel arrived in Moscow on November 19 and expressed his confidence that the trip to Russia would contribute to strengthening cooperation between Havana and Moscow in areas of mutual interest.

The Cuban president's tour also includes Algeria, where he began his trip, Turkey, and the People's Republic of China. (Source: PL)
