Fidel Castro

Paris, Nov 24 (RHC) In the weekly publication La Lettre électronique Hebdo, the Cuba Coopération France (CubaCoop) association today paid tribute to the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, on the eve of the sixth anniversary of his death and highlighted his legacy of defending national independence and just causes.

CubaCoop noted that Fidel "left us to undertake the last voyage" on November 25, 2016, 60 years after he led the departure of the Granma yacht from Mexico."

On that day, in 1956, the ship with 82 people on board set sail from Tuxpan to liberate Cuba from the dictatorship of Fulgencio Batista, CubaCoop's first vice president, Miguel Quintero, noted in the article.

Regarding Granma and the leader's political trajectory, he highlighted his strategic vision and will to defend the independence of his homeland and fight against the exploitation of the world's poor.

According to Quintero, also relevant were Fidel's concerns about the future inhabitants of the planet, the great problem of feeding billions of human beings with the limited natural resources available, and the latent threat of the destructive power of modern weapons.

Fidel Castro and Ernesto Che Guevara symbolized the hope of my generation, he said. (Source: PL)
