Josefina Vidal Ferreiro, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs

Havana, Nov 24 (RHC) During the Extraordinary Meeting of Ibero-American Foreign Ministers held Thursday in virtual format, under the leadership of the Dominican Republic, Cuba reaffirmed its support in the efforts to advance towards a fairer and more sustainable Ibero-America.

As reported by the Foreign Ministry on its website, Josefina Vidal Ferreiro, deputy minister of Foreign Affairs, headed the Cuban delegation that participated in the meeting and highlighted how the vitality of the Ibero-American Conference and the continuity of its cooperation spaces have been maintained, even in the context of the confrontation and recovery from the effects of COVID-19.

The official described the celebration of the XXVIII Ibero-American Summit of Heads of State and Government, to be hosted by the Dominican Republic on March 25, 2023, as a propitious space to take stock of the work and agree on new goals.

He also ratified his country's commitment to the regional meeting, while announcing its active and constructive participation in the negotiation of the initiatives to be proposed at the event.

For Cuba it is a priority that the summit reiterates the firm position in rejection of the illegal and criminal economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States, she said.

The diplomat thanked the Ibero-American countries for their support in the vote on the resolution condemning the blockade, approved by the United Nations General Assembly on November 3.

The Ibero-American Conference is an inclusive space for cooperation made up of 22 Latin American and Iberian Spanish and Portuguese-speaking states. Cuba has been a member of this mechanism since its creation in 1991, the Foreign Ministry pointed out. (Source: ACN)
