Fernando Gonzalez's speech at World Peace Council

Hanoi, Nov 26 (RHC) The president of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP), Fernando Gonzalez Llort, called for defending the truth to preserve world peace and protect human and collective rights in the face of the escalation of hatred that hinders the path of social justice for all.

He also called for strengthening unity based on respect for diversity and expressed his firm conviction that socialism is the only possible alternative to sustain the human species.

Speaking at the 22nd Assembly of the World Peace Council, Gonzalez recalled the sixth anniversary of the death of Commander in Chief Fidel Castro and his anti-imperialist legacy.

He also insisted on the imperative of confronting unconventional warfare sanctioned by unilateral lists "such as the immoral, illegal and absurd inclusion of Cuba as a country that sponsors terrorism".

Threats to peace are more latent than ever at a time when there is also a growing presence of fascist thought, which is making its way in different regions of Europe and America, commented the Hero of the Republic of Cuba.

Imperialism, he said, does not and will not admit alternative models that allow cooperation among our peoples, because in its scale of values it does not recognize solidarity or altruism.

He also expressed his gratitude for the support of the international community for the resolution Necessity of ending the economic, commercial, and financial blockade of the United States against Cuba, approved by an overwhelming majority and for the thirtieth time in the recent sessions of the UN General Assembly.

The head of ICAP attended the XXII Assembly of the WPC in which Cuba was re-elected to the Executive Committee, the Secretariat, and acted as coordinator of the movement for the Americas.

In this regard, he said that the first meeting of the regional group was held here, in which it was defined that the main priority will be to preserve Latin America and the Caribbean as a zone of peace, as approved in 2014 by the leaders of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC).
