The actions of November 30 were led by the 26th of July Revolutionary Movement (M-26-7).

Havana, Nov 30 (RHC) Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero recalled on Wednesday the uprising led by the 26th of July Revolutionary Movement (M-26-7) on November 30, 1956.

From his Twitter profile, the Cuban head of government described the event as one of the most heroic pages of the island's history, where young people led by Frank País, wore for the first time the olive-green uniform and the red and black armband of the M-26-7.

On November 30, the young combatants Pepito Tey, Tony Alomá, and Otto Parellada, heroes of our Revolution, gave their lives for the just cause of seeing Cuba free, recalled Marrero.

For her part, Deputy Prime Minister Inés María Chapman highlighted the organizational capacity, courage, and tenacity of Frank País, the leader of that heroic deed.

Those actions were carried out with the purpose of fostering a climate of struggle throughout the country and creating the conditions to support the landing of the Granma yacht’s crew, coming from Mexico.

Weather conditions delayed the arrival of the vessel on the scheduled day, which prevented the uprising from coinciding with the landing of the revolutionaries, but evidenced the rebelliousness in the country. (Source: PL)
