Havana, Dec 1 (RHC) Rogelio Polanco Fuentes, member of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Communist Party -PCC-, and head of the Ideological Department, called on Wednesday to promote community communication in Cuba based on the diversity and heterogeneity of today's society.

At the National Council of the Cuban Association of Social Communicators -ACCS-, he urged the professionals and members of that organization with national scope to work so that the management in the community space is more solid, inclusive, and conscious.

Speaking at the Havana Convention Palace, he underscored the importance of community communication; for example, during the electrical power outage throughout the country after the passage of Hurricane Ian, which made it impossible to access the media and social networks.

Polanco Fuentes said that the draft bill of the Social Communication Law will be submitted for analysis by the deputies given the next session of the National Assembly of People's Power (Parliament) and stressed that the text addresses the strategic and integrated management of the processes in the institutional, media and community spheres.

According to the Head of the Ideological Department of the Central Committee, the country is making progress in recognizing the importance of social communication, one of the pillars of the Government Management System; and with the regulation, the professionals of the discipline will have great weight in the creation of the instruments, values, and principles it stipulates.

He insisted on the need to strengthen the work of the Cuban Association of Social Communicators and integrate its members into the political and social processes of the island, as well as to strengthen research links with international experts, especially those coming from countries facing complex processes due to external campaigns.

The organization's National Council was also attended by Joel Suárez Pellé, deputy head of the Ideological Department of the Central Committee of the PCC. The Cuban Association of Social Communicators has more than three decades of creative work at the service of the Revolution (Source: ACN).
