Vietnam and Cuba promote defense cooperation

Hanoi, Dec 5 (RHC) The good relations between Cuba, Vietnam, and their armies are an important factor that contributes to raising defense cooperation to a new level, a senior commander of the People's Army said today.

This was stated by the head of the General Department of Politics of Vietnam People's Army, Luong Cuong when he received the head of the Political Directorate of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Cuba (FAR), Major General Victor Rojo Ramos, who is making an official visit.

The Communist Party, the State, the people, and the People's Army have always been side by side with Cuba to support it in everything they can, Cuong stressed and highlighted the importance of the presence of the high-ranking officials of the FAR that will be extended until next day 7.

Cuong also shared the difficulties and challenges faced in recent times by the Cuban people, generated by the US economic, financial and commercial blockade, natural disasters, and the Covid-19 pandemic.

In the last 60 years, and despite many ups and downs of history, the ties between Cuba and Vietnam have remained unchanged, while bilateral cooperation is developing comprehensively in all fields, said Rojo Ramos.

Both sides exchanged assessments on the world situation, their countries, and armies, and agreed to continue intensifying collaboration in different fields, especially the exchange of high-level delegations and experiences in political tasks and party building.

In addition, in human resources training and increasing outreach-education among officials and officers of the armed forces on the traditional relations between the parties, states, and armies of Vietnam and Cuba, among other aspects.

At the end of the talks, Cuong and Rojo Ramos signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation for the exchange of experiences in the area of partisan and political work in the military.

According to the same source, in the context of his official visit to the country and his participation in the Vietnam International Defense Exhibition 2022, the head of the Political Directorate of the Revolutionary Armed Forces was received by the chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, Nguyen Tan Cuong.

The Vietnamese deputy defense minister said that the relations between the two countries in this field have developed in recent years to become a pillar and one of the models for promoting other areas of cooperation.

Tan Coung hoped that the two sides would effectively implement the cooperation contents based on the signed documents and agreements, prioritizing the sectors by each other's demand and capabilities.
