Cuban Foreign Ministry denounces cyber-attack and communicational warfare

Havana, Dec 7 (RHC) The Cuban Foreign Ministry on Wednesday denounced a cyberattack against its networks, as part of the communicational war against the archipelago.

In its Twitter account, the Foreign Ministry said that from 23:00 local time on Tuesday, December 6, it had limited the access of its users for several hours, as a result of an action that sought to intentionally saturate the bandwidth on the network.

"The cyber pirates did not manage to compromise the integrity of our sites, which are operational," he said on his social network and added that this attack is part of the communication war against the Caribbean nation.

The Foreign Ministry strongly denounced these "illegal actions that violate the rules and regulations governing relations for the peaceful and responsible use of cyberspace", something several users who commented on the Twitter thread agreed on.

The account of the Cuban Embassy in Mali pointed out that this is an attempt to shut down the voice of the island when at the same time they prevent a greater reach of its connectivity.

"Whatever they do they will not silence the voice of the Cuban people and government," the message emphasized and added the hashtags #CubaViveyVence and #MejorSinBloqueo. This is not the first time the Caribbean nation has experienced this type of activity.

In July last year, the country denounced a series of cyberattacks orchestrated against Cuban websites that were executed with the use of IP addresses registered in telecommunications service providers in the United States, United Kingdom, France, Turkey, Germany, and the Netherlands.
