The vigil in Canada will be held tomorrow in Vancouver

Havana, Dec 15 (RHC) Activists and friends of Cuba will soon stage vigils in cities in Canada, the United States and other parts of the world to call on Washington to end the blockade imposed against the island.

The coordinator of the solidarity project 'Bridges of Love', Carlos Lazo told Prensa Latina that this is part of initiatives that will take place during this month to advocate for the normalization of relations between the White House and Havana, and the cessation of hostilities from the northern country.

The vigil in Canada will be held tomorrow in Vancouver, on the west coast of British Columbia, and will take place between 18:00 and 20:00 hours.

While that of the United States will be held in Miami, next Wednesday, from 18:30 to 20:30 local time, at that city´s international airport.

"There will be brothers in solidarity who will defend the building of bridges of love with Cuba and will demand U.S. President Joe Biden to end the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed for more than six decades," said Lazo.

He detailed that the initiatives will demand Washington to speed up the process of family reunification in its embassy in Havana, boost the process of sending remittances to relatives in the Caribbean nation, and promote broad cultural and scientific cooperation between the two countries.

Participants will also urge the immediate elimination of all measures that hinder the flow of food, medical supplies, and other basic resources to Cuba, as well as lifting the limits imposed on the right to travel freely to the island territory to all citizens and residents on the northern territory.

In addition, the activists will call for the exclusion of the Caribbean country from the list of alleged countries sponsoring terrorism, according to the White House, which reinforces the impact of the blockade, as well as the difficulties of the island to enter international trade and carry out financial operations.

Every end of the month, solidarity caravans take place in various parts of the world to demand the end of hostilities from Washington, reinforced by the 243 measures imposed during Donald Trump´s administration (2017-2021), in force almost entirely with Biden as head of the White House.
