Havana, January 9 (RHC) President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez attended the ceremony marking the beginning of the 2023 judicial year, which is part of the 50th anniversary of Cuba's Justice Courts System.

The event is attended by high-ranking representatives of higher state bodies, the National Assembly of People's Power, the Office of the Prosecutor of the Republic, the Ministry of Justice, as well as magistrates and directors of the highest judicial instance and presidents of the provincial people's courts.

The opening ceremony of the judicial year is an international practice and in Cuba it constitutes an important step in institutionalization, which contributes to reinforce the transparency and vitality of its judicial system.

During his speech, the President of the People's Supreme Court, Ruben Remigio Ferro, noted that one of the objectives of the judicial year that begins is to consolidate among magistrates, judges and judicial personnel, the knowledge and mastery of these new rules and ensure strict compliance with what they provide.

Similarly, the Cuban president referred to the performance of the Cuban judicial system in the face of the intensity of the law-making process that took place in 2022. He congratulated them and called on them to continue perfecting what was approved, as well as to contribute new ideas in the administration of justice.
