Secretary General of the Workers' Party of Belgium praises Cuba's achievements

Martens gave an overview of the situation that several European countries are currently experiencing.

Havana, Jan 24 (RHC) The secretary general of the Workers' Party of Belgium (PTB), Peter Martens said Tuesday in Havana that Cuba is an example for the world, and recognized the achievements of the Caribbean nation.

The party leader, who is on a working visit to the island, was received by the head of the International Relations Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC), Emilio Lozada Garcia.

Through its Twitter account, the PCC informed that during the exchange both parties expressed interest in consolidating relations.

Martens also gave an overview of the current situation in several European countries.

The Cuban representative thanked the Workers' Party of Belgium for its support in the fight against the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by the United States, as well as the condemnation of Cuba's inclusion in the list of nations sponsoring terrorism.

Also participating for the Belgian side were Charlie Le Paige, member of the Workers' Party of Belgium Bureau and head of the Youth Commission in the National Council, and Laura Polanco, president of the Anti-imperialist Movement for Peace and International Solidarity.

The European delegation also met on Tuesday with Homero Acosta, secretary of the National Assembly of People's Power, a meeting in which the visitors were updated on the work of the Cuban legislative body.

The PTB representatives will participate in the 5th International Conference for the Balance of the World, which began this day and will last until the 28th, at the Havana Convention Palace, with the participation of more than a thousand delegates from 82 countries. (Source: Prensa Latina)
