Rodriguez acknowledged the challenges that CELAC had to face in the last period.

Havana, Jan 25 (RHC) Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez said Wednesday in Buenos Aires, Argentina, that the 7th Summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) was historic because it gave continuity to the revitalization of that multilateral organization.

Rodriguez said it was an event of compromise, unity in diversity, and positive in terms of attention to fundamental problems of the region, such as climate change, the situation of the post-Covid-19 world, development, human rights, and democracy.

The head of the Cuban diplomacy added that the Declaration of Buenos Aires and other special documents approved include references to Cuba with the denunciation of the U.S. blockade and the inclusion of Havana in the spurious list of countries allegedly sponsoring terrorism.

He acknowledged the challenges that CELAC had to face in the last period, but currently, there is a favorable political correlation in the region, similar to the one that gave rise to the creation of this intergovernmental mechanism.

The Chancellor considered that a sign of this strengthening and revitalization in the context of the Summit was also the opportunity to listen to leaders of other countries that do not belong to our region and were summoned to the meeting.

In this sense, he referred to the interventions of the Chinese head of state, Xi Jinping; the president of the European Council, Charles Michel; the representative of the U.S. president, Joseph Biden, as well as African groups. (Source: Prensa Latina)
