Morales Ojeda receives Secretary General of the Workers' Party of Belgium

Havana, Jan 26 (RHC) Member of the Political Bureau and Secretary of Organization of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, Roberto Morales Ojeda, met Wednesday afternoon with Peter Mertens, Secretary General of the Belgian Labor Party, who is visiting our country invited by the PCC and will participate in the 5th International Conference for the Balance of the World.

Morales Ojeda explained the progress of the implementation of the Ideas, Concepts, and Guidelines of the 8th Party Congress and gave an update on the situation on the island, which is creatively resisting the intensified economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States.  He also denounced the permanent destabilization campaigns designed and financed by the US.

Comrade Peter Mertens ratified the support of his party to the struggle of the Cuban people against the blockade and denounced the anti-Cuban actions of sectors of the extreme right in the European Parliament. He expressed the will to continue strengthening the relations of friendship and solidarity between both political organizations.

Participating in the exchange were Charlie le Paige, a member of the PTB Bureau and responsible for the Youth Commission in the National Council, and Paula Polanco, president of the Anti-imperialist Movement for Peace and International Solidarity.
