Havana, March 14 (RHC) Cuban Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment Rodrigo Malmierca on Monday stated at the Summit of Associations of the Confederation of Indian Industry that multilateralism is the most solid leading light for peace.

Paraphrasing Mahatma Gandhi, Malmierca asserted that effective multilateralism is the pathway towards peace while pointing out Cuba’s standpoints on the future of multilateralism and stressing that the international economic scenario poses several questions on how to contribute to minimizing uncertainty triggered by complex geopolitical events in the most trade-dependent nations as well as the most vulnerable populations.

The Cuban minister also asked how to recover the economic sustainability levels affected by the Covid-19 pandemic worldwide and, at the same time, to face the increasingly irreversible effect of climate change.

Malmierca pointed out the pressing need to strengthen nations´ political willingness to progress in economic integration so that the people can attain their legitimate development interests. (Source: PL)
