Havana, June 10 (RHC) -- Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez today thanked through his Twitter account the leaders of the Caribbean Community (Caricom) for reiterating their rejection of the U.S. blockade against the Antillean island.

The Cuban foreign minister welcomed the firm stance of the representatives of that regional integration group who, during a recent meeting with U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris, called for the elimination of unilateral coercive measures against Cuba.

The meeting between the leaders of the Caribbean integration bloc and the vice-president took place in Nassau, Bahamas, on June 8, with an agenda that evaluated "pressing global concerns, including climate change, energy management, food security and the post-pandemic recovery of ovid-19", according to media reports.

Caricom, an integration mechanism established on July 4, 1973, is composed of 15 Member States and five Associate Members, mostly islands of the Caribbean Lesser Antilles, and other countries of the region.

The Bahamas currently heads the presidency of the group of Caribbean nations that focuses on institutional matters, trade facilitation, market access for goods and services, transportation and the settlement of regional trade disputes. (Source:PL)
