Camagüey, July 28 (RHC) -- The province of Camagüey received 25 members of the Juan Rius Rivera Brigade from Puerto Rico to Cuba, who until next July 30 will fulfill a program of visits to several social institutions.
The warm welcome of the 32nd edition of the visit of this solidarity group took place on Thursday afternoon in the emblematic Agramonte Park.
Puerto Rican friends of Cuba laid a wreath next to the statue of the most illustrious Camagüeyano, Ignacio Agramonte y Loynaz (1841-1873).
After touring Holguín, Guantánamo and Santiago de Cuba, on the occasion of the celebrations for the National Rebellion Day (July 26), we had the commitment to arrive in Camagüey to reaffirm once again our support to the largest of the Antilles in its tireless struggle against the US blockade, the illegal naval base in Guantánamo and the list of countries sponsoring terrorism, said Milagro Rivera, coordinator of the Movement of Solidarity with Cuba in Puerto Rico.
About her stay in the City of Heroes, she commented with emotion her impressions about the commemorative act for the 70th anniversary of the attack to the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes barracks and the opportunity to exchange with Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic.
Eduardo Almanza González, delegate of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples in Camagüey, highlighted the firmness and will of action of those who every year defy the harassment, threats and intimidations of the government of the United States, to strengthen ties of brotherhood with the people of Agramontino.
During their stay in the demarcation, they will check this Friday the operation of the Ignacio Agramonte Polyclinic and the Eduardo Agramonte Piña Provincial Pediatric Hospital, in addition to the scientific work of the Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology and in the evening they will appreciate the cultural talent of the Camagüey Folkloric Ballet.
