Havana, July 29 (RHC) -- The First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel congratulated on Saturday the scientists who created the Soberana 02 and Soberana Plus vaccines, after Mexico approved the use of the immunogens for children.

In his Twitter account the Cuban leader pointed out:

Many congratulations to all those dear scientists who achieved the Soberanas and allowed us to vaccinate, especially, Cuban children at the worst moment of the pandemic. We can never thank you enough.  A big embrace.  https://t.co/qArZF81oP0

The New Molecules Committee (CMN) of the Federal Commission for Protection against Health Risks of the northern country issued the day before a favorable opinion for the use of the two injectables in the pediatric population, starting at the age of five.

The technical report informs that these vaccines are composed of recombinant SARS-CoV-2 receptor-binding domain protein (RBD), tetanus toxoid conjugate and recombinant SARS-CoV-2 receptor-binding domain protein (dimeric RBD), respectively.

"The favorable opinion towards the immunogens, developed by the Finlay Vaccine Institute in Havana, is a step prior to the authorization of emergency use to give access to a greater number of people to quality, safe and effective vaccines."
