Cuba and Belarus will strengthen scientific-technical collaboration in agriculture

 

Havana, Aug 3 (RHC) Directors of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the Ministry of Agriculture of Cuba signed a memorandum of understanding for scientific-technical collaboration and the expansion of bilateral relations.

The signature was made at the end of the visit of a delegation from that Eastern European country to the largest island of the Antilles.

During the last days of July, the visitors toured research centers, companies, cooperatives, and farms in western Cuba, and signed the bases for cooperation, the establishment of research, and joint developments within the framework of coordinated directions.

They also provide for the commercialization of the results of joint activities in the two Republics and in third countries, the exchange of information and technologies, and the use of the scientific infrastructure of both parties.

When signing the document, Dmitry M. Bogdanovich -director of the Scientific Center of the Belarusian Academy of Sciences for animal husbandry- and Telce González Morera - director of Science, Technology, Innovation and the Environment of the Cuban Ministry of Tourism- admitted that it reinforces the potential scientists and technicians from both countries.

The document defines that the collaboration between the parties will be fulfilled by carrying out research and innovation projects, organizing joint programs for highly qualified scientific personnel, and preparing scientific and information publications.

They include the holding of conferences, workshops and joint meetings on topics of common interest, the organization and participation in events of the parties in a wide range of scientific directions, as well as the exchange of scientific and other information.

They also contemplate that with the consent of both parties, research centers, institutions and scientists from third countries may be invited to participate in projects and programs carried out under this memorandum.

It will be valid for three years from now and may be terminated by either party by giving notice six months in advance, expressing their intention to suspend or renegotiate it. Otherwise it is automatically extended for a period of five years. (Source: ACN)
