Batabanó, August 30 (RHC) -- Political Bureau member and Vice President of the Republic, Salvador Valdés Mesa, called for hard work to repair the recent damage caused by tropical storm Idalia in the province of Mayabeque.

Valdés Mesa toured this Tuesday areas affected by the hydro-meteorological event in this territory, accompanied by Yuniasky Crespo Baquero and Manuel Aguiar Lamas, president and vice-president of the Provincial Defense Council respectively.

The Cuban leader insisted on restoring the damages in agriculture, where it is preliminarily estimated that 300 hectares of crops were mainly affected by the rainfall.

He pointed out on the epidemiological surveillance, sanitation and attention to vulnerable people, as well as on the safety of water and its potabilization.

The member of the Political Bureau Bureau, verified the impacts in Surgidero de Batabanó, which require an agile response to erase the traces of these inclemencies in this popular council that has been devastated by other hydro meteorological phenomena in the past.

He visited the Batabanó Fishing Company where the vessels and industrial technologies did not suffer any damage.

He discussed the need for a rapid rehabilitation of all the communities, as well as the need to resume economic activity as soon as the weather permits.

He urged to solve the possible problems and to alleviate the main claims of the citizens in the areas of San Nicolás and Batabanó, mainly, where the rains, floods and wind gusts have been greater.
