Secretary General of UNCTAD will attend the G77 Summit in Cuba
Havana, Sep 8 (RHC) The Secretary General of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), Rebeca Grynspan will participate in the upcoming Summit of the Group of 77 and China, in Havana.
The event, which will take place on September 15 and 16, will allow the countries of the South to work together for unity and determined action, in order to face present and future challenges.
Participants will discuss, among other topics, current development challenges centered on the role of science, technology and innovation, and the limitations of developing nations in accessing scientific and technical advances.
With 134 member states, the G77 and China represents 80 percent of the world's population and more than two-thirds of the United Nations membership.
Since January of this year, Cuba assumed for the first time the pro tempore presidency of the Group with the commitment to advance the common interests of the South. (Source: PL)
