Havana, December 10 (RHC)-- Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel has strongly repudiated Washington's veto of a new draft resolution of the United Nations Security Council that demanded a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.

On his X profile, the Cuban president pointed out that with its action, the United States is once again blocking an initiative for humanitarian aid, while endorsing the murder of women, children and the Palestinian people.

On Friday in the Security Council, the United States vetoed the draft resolution presented by the United Arab Emirates that called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.

The text received the approval of 13 members (out of 15) and the co-sponsorship of 100 countries represented at the United Nations -- including Cuba.   The U.S. "no" vote was the only negative vote at the Security Council and effectively blocked the resolution.   The United Kingdom abstained.
