Havana, December 15 (RHC) -- The First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel welcomed the talks between the presidents of Venezuela and Guyana, held the day before in Kinsgtown, capital of St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

In his account on the social network X, the Cuban dignitary ratified the position of the largest Antillean island "to contribute to the solution of conflicts in Our America, as we have acted in this case according to the requests of each party."

The heads of state of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, and of Guyana, Irfaan Alí, expressed on Thursday their commitment to the search for good neighborliness, peaceful coexistence, and the unity of Latin America and the Caribbean.

In a joint statement read out by the Prime Minister of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Ralph Gonsalves, pro tempore president of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States, CELAC, the leaders agreed to continue the dialogue on any other pending issues of mutual importance to the two countries.

At the conclusion of the high-level meeting, Maduro and Ali further agreed that any dispute between the States will be resolved in accordance with international law, including the 1966 Geneva Agreement.

They agreed that "they will not threaten each other -directly or indirectly- or use force against each other in any circumstances," including those arising from any dispute between the two nations.

The Venezuelan and Guyanese leaders agreed to "meet again in Brazil in the next three months or at another agreed time," to consider any matter with implications for the disputed territory of Essequibo, including the aforementioned update of the Joint Commission.  (Sources: @DiazCanelB and Prensa Latina)
