Standing Committees of Assembly of People's Power begin in Cuba

Havana, December 18 (RHC)-- Deputies to Cuba's National Assembly of People's Power (Parliament) began today, at the Palace of Conventions, their work sessions prior to the Second Ordinary Period of the 10th Legislature, where they analyze essential issues for the Caribbean country.

This Monday, in the Economic Affairs Committee, its deputies will know the estimated closing of the Economy Plan in 2023 and the objectives and goals for 2024, as well as those of the State Budget, and the results of the control actions on its execution and its elaboration for next year, according to the ANPP secretariat.

The deputies will evaluate the fulfillment of the Food Sovereignty and Food and Nutritional Security Law, the actions to counteract the rise in prices and the housing construction program.

Likewise, they will evaluate the state of communal services, the improvement of retail trade and the materialization of the delivery of subsidies to vulnerable people, he said.

The meetings held on Monday and Tuesday will set the stage for the Second Session of the 10th Legislature of the ANPP to be held on the 20th, 21st and 22nd of next week at the Convention Palace in the capital city.

The agenda of the meeting foresees the examination of the implementation of the Family Code, Law 114 on criminal proceedings, in addition to agreements and decrees laws of the Council of State to be ratified.

The deputies will pronounce themselves on the exercise of the highest supervision of the Ministry of Agriculture, the rendering of accounts of the Ministry of Industry and of the governments of the provinces of Cienfuegos (central-south) and Las Tunas (east).

Also to be debated during these sessions will be the performance of Law 118 on Foreign Investment, the draft laws on Public Health, the Military Prosecutor's Office and the System of Attention to Complaints and Petitions of the People.

The parliamentary meeting will put into context the fulfillment of the current year's legislative schedule and will outline the program for 2024, ANPP's directors said. (Sources: PL/ACN)
