Cuba conveys condolences to Mongolia for those killed in accident

A truck carrying 60 tons of liquefied natural gas exploded after colliding with a car, and the fire spread to nearby buildings

 

Havana, January 27 (RHC) The Cuban embassy in Mongolia conveyed its deepest condolences to the Government and people of the Eurasian country for the deaths and material losses in the recent explosion of a liquefied gas tank.

In a message, the representation of the Caribbean island expressed dismay at the accident that occurred in Ulaanbaatar and condolences to the family, colleagues and friends of the deceased. They also expressed its best wishes for a speedy and complete recovery of the injured, as well as the restoration of the affected area.

Three firefighters died after a truck carrying 60 tons of liquefied natural gas exploded in the Mongolian capital after colliding with a car in Ulaanbaatar last Wednesday morning, authorities said. At least 11 people were injured and the fire spread to nearby buildings.

According to Sainbuyan Amarsaikhan, Mongolia's deputy prime minister, no casualties were reported inside any of the buildings, but the three firefighters were killed in a second truck explosion.

Mongolia's National Emergency Management Agency added that four children were among those injured, including one from poisoning. (Source: PL)
