President of Cuba highlights state of relations between his country and Russia

 

Havana, February 27 (RHC) Cuban president Miguel Díaz-Canel highlighted the state of relations between his country and Russia, when holding a meeting this Monday with the secretary of the Security Council of the Eurasian nation, Nikolai Patrushev.

Díaz-Canel thanked the visitor for including Cuba in his tour of countries in the region, in which he is accompanied by high-ranking representatives of Russia, who contribute to the strengthening and expansion of bilateral relations.

During the dialogue, the head of state recalled that important steps have been taken in the ties between both peoples, among which the signing of documents related to Russian-Cuban collaboration stands out.

He pointed out that charter and regular flights have been expanding between both countries. In addition, Russian tourism is the one with the highest percentage of growth last year in Cuba, and the Slavic nation is the current third issuer of tourists to the island.

The Cuban president sent greetings to his counterpart Vladimir Putin, and recognized his leadership in the international arena.

For his part, Patrushev thanked the president for the welcome and his words about the Russian head of state, from whom he conveyed his greetings, according to a report from the national television.

The secretary of the Russian Security Council highlighted the excellent state of bilateral ties and pointed out that there is a very intense dialogue between Russia and Cuba in different areas.

The television report specifies that an expression of the intensification of ties between the island and the European nation constitutes the large number of visits by senior officials of both governments in 2023 and so far this year.

Nikolai Patrushev was also received this Monday by the leader of the Cuban Revolution, Raúl Castro. (Source: PL)
