Havana, February 27 (RHC)-- The First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (CC-PCC) and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz- Canel toured the municipality of Puerto Padre, in the eastern province of Las Tunas, on Tuesday.
The visit is the continuation of the one he made last January to Manatí, which is part of the one he began earlier this year to evaluate the fulfillment of the work priorities set for 2024.
Accompanying the head of state was Roberto Morales Ojeda, member of the Political Bureau and Secretary of Organization of the CC-PCC.
The tour began at the feed mill, and then will continue to other sites of vital economic importance.
Miguel Abreu Larramendy, director of Tecnoazúcar in the province, explained to Díaz-Canel that the 'Antonio Guiteras' feed factory produces meat from a pork mass of over 1,500 pigs; although he clarified that it is not considered a finished product but a raw material for larger quantities of sausages and other meat masses.
He emphasized that after the interruption of the entry of feed into the country, due to the intensification of the U.S. blockade more than four years ago, the entity undertook the commitment to create two varieties of this animal feed and today it is showing positive and accredited results.
"We are producing dry feed with the use of circular trade. This is where the residues of the Fishing Company, the Dairy Company and the benefits of the protein honey and others from the sugar industry arrive," said Abreu Larramendy.
He explained that currently the oyster shell is added to guarantee calcium and a more balanced formulation has been achieved, which is deficient in the country.He added that their goal is to continue growing corn and soybean to produce around 50 tons of this animal feed for reproduction and the first stage of fattening.He also said that five tons of liquid feed are guaranteed and they have the challenge of increasing production to double the swine mass.Photo: @PresidenciaCuba
The feed factory has a strong anirist movement that made it possible to transform and create technology for both productive aspects.The link between the plant and the university of Tunisia has made it possible to increase professional skills and a better use of science and technology for the production of foodstuffs.
